A short and sweet guide on On-site SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization and can be segregated into two categories: on-site SEO and off-site SEO.

On-site SEO refers to all the tweaks that we make to a website to improve its visibility in searches.

Off-site SEO, on the other hand, refers to actions we take off that site. This means in off-site SEO, we do not touch the website – we go to other relevant websites and generate backlinks – links on other sites that point to ours – for our website.

Here in this post, we will majorly talk about on-site SEO. So shall we start?

1. Title Tags

Ask any Web solutions company and it’ll tell you how important title tags are for websites that want to rank high in Google.

Title tags are titles of the pages of your website. You can see them at the top of your browser.

Google and Bing and Yahoo and other search engines read these tittle tags to understand what your pages are all about and which keywords they deserve to rank on.

Therefore, you should write down your title tags with great care. Ideally, you should include your keywords in your title tags along with your brand name (if you are left with some space).

2. URLs

The URLs of your website should be people and Google friendly.

Write them in a way that a layman can easily read them. A good example of an SEO-friendly URL is http://www.olive.in/services/seo.html.

You can read it easily and tell what the page is all about. Try including your keywords in your URLs.

3.  Headers

Google is not likely to put a lot of weight on Headings while judging your website for its search result pages in 2016. But headers are still important. However, you do not need to use all six HTML elements to structure your pages.

4. Meta Descriptions

This is the small content piece (usually written within 160 characters or less) that Google shows when it shows a website in its search result pages. This piece is called Meta descriptions and acts as a teaser to make the searcher/prospect click on it so they reach your website.

Use your keywords in the descriptions. But what is more important is you make them readable and clickable.

5. Body Text

If you want to optimize your website for search engines, you cannot do it without optimizing your website content for search engines like Google.

Ideally, you should not stuff your keywords in the content. Let them come in naturally as you write or re-write the content.

Content is King. And you better not disappoint the king. Get a copywriter from a local web solutions company to write down content for your website. The modern SEO thrives on smart and engaging and sharable content. So make sure you are not using too generic, copied, or thin content. Get in touch with a web solutions company and get your website optimized for your prospects, customers, and Google.
